Last weekend I performed with Catherine Gallant Dance at City Center Studios in New York. Here is an excerpt from the article that was published in Oberon’s Grove.

“Catherine Gallant has created a series of five solos, pairing her individual dancers with solo musicians to offer a set of vivid double-portraits. Michelle Cohen, a captivating mover, starts things off in a solo played expressively by violinist Miranda Sielaff. Ms. Cohen immediately served notice that we were in the company of some truly impressive dancers. Double-bassist Doug Balliet played for dancer Greg Youdan who wore a business suit and tie; Youdan ended his solo by literally climbing the walls. Aaron Trant’s array of percussion instruments created a small symphony for dancer Chriselle Tidrick who wore a white tutu embellished with pages of newspirint. Ms. Tidrick struck ballerina poses in this wonderfully quirky solo. A handsome dancer and cellist (Ron Fernandez and Eric Jacobsen) engaged in a fine rapport as both choreography and music called for grace with a contemporary edge. In the final movement, Catherine Gallant displayed poignant musicality and fluency of movement as Matt Dine’s mellow-toned English horn solo created an atmosphere of soulful solitude”
